From v3.6 onward, Traefik supports each minor version for about six months from its release, and several minor versions can be supported at the same time. When a new major version ships, the last minor of the previous major keeps getting support for two more years. Lines before v3.6 did not carry that guarantee: only the latest minor release was supported. Active support means bug fixes; security support means critical and security fixes only.
Check your version in the Traefik dashboard or with the traefik version command. With a six-month window per minor, plan to move forward about once a quarter rather than letting several windows pass at once.
The project publishes migration guides for version-to-version upgrades, including the v2 to v3 move. Target dates on the release page are marked subject to change, so check there before you schedule the work.
