How to read these macOS dates

Apple does not publish a fixed end-of-support schedule for every macOS version. This table reports the linked lifecycle dataset's status and dates, not an Apple guarantee of security updates through a stated day. Check Apple's security releases and the source entry before planning an upgrade. "Not announced" means no date is published here.

Coverage note: some values are retained from earlier reviews. Unresolved releases or dates may be omitted; feed retrieval is not verification of every displayed value.

Status calculated for 2026-11-04: 23 versions tracked; 3 supported, 0 security fixes only, 0 ending within 90 days, 20 end of life. Calculated from the dates stored here, not a vendor verification date. With JavaScript on, the calculation uses today's date.

Frequently asked questions

Which Apple macOS versions are still supported?

Using the dates stored here, status calculated for 2026-11-04 shows 3 of 23 tracked Apple macOS versions are still in support (macOS 27 (Golden Gate), macOS 26 (Tahoe), macOS 15 (Sequoia)). The table above shows the calculated status of every tracked version; retained values may still need vendor confirmation.

What is the newest Apple macOS version tracked here?

macOS 27 (Golden Gate) (latest update 27.2), released 2026-09-14. This is the newest release included here, not necessarily the newest vendor release. Unresolved releases may be omitted while their dates or support status are checked. See the linked vendor source for current releases.

Where do these Apple macOS dates come from?

From the vendor sources linked at the top of this page (vendor security updates) and the source entry. Vendors can revise dates, so confirm there before you schedule a migration.

Planning notes

Apple does not publish fixed end-of-support dates for macOS versions. In practice, Apple ships security updates for the three newest major versions at any time. When a new macOS arrives each fall, the oldest of the three stops getting updates, so a version's real support window is usually about three years from its release.

Check your version under Apple menu > About This Mac. Upgrades come through System Settings > General > Software Update. If the Mac is more than a couple of major versions behind, check Apple's compatibility list for the newest release first, because older hardware drops off the supported list.

For planning: treat the oldest version still getting security updates as end of life for anything that handles sensitive data, and schedule the move before the fall release, not after it.

Note: "Not announced" means no confirmed date is shown here; check the linked vendor source. "Ended (no date published)" means the source marks it ended without a date. Dates are compared as calendar days in your own time zone. A published end date counts as the last day of support.

Data: endoflife.date (MIT license), feed retrieved 2026-11-04. Retrieval does not mean every displayed value was verified that day. Some values are retained from earlier reviews, and unresolved releases or dates may be omitted. Confirm with the linked vendor source before a purchase or migration decision.
